EU Treats Microsoft with French Efficiency and German Charm; U.S. Based Company Showcases European Commission's Flawed Mandate

WASHINGTON, April 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Today, Property Rights Alliance (PRA) argued that Microsoft continues to be unfairly targeted during recent European court hearings regarding its Windows operating system and Media Player. Having stemmed from a European Commission (EC) court decision in 2004, the U.S.-based company has been arguing before the Court of First Instance that the EC's decision was significantly flawed in stating that Microsoft had illegally bundled its Media Player to its operating platform Windows.
In response, the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, levied a landmark fine ($613 million) against Microsoft in March 2004. The company was forced to create an alternative version of Windows titled Windows XPN, without the Media Player included....
