UPDATE: Annual Awards to Go to Among Others, San Jose Mercury News for 'Tainted Trials, Stolen Justice' Series

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The California Public Defenders Association honored a number of individuals at its recent annual convention in Southern California on Friday April 28, including San Jose Mercury News' editor Susan Goldberg and staff writer Fredric N. Tulsky for their criminal justice series published earlier this year entitled "Tainted Trials, Stolen Justice," that examined 727 criminal cases in Santa Clara County over a five-year period that raised issues of wrongful convictions, allegations of unfairness and misconduct by criminal justice professionals, judges, and appellate justices.
