APA Convention Targeted for Protest; APA Focused More on Political Correctness Than Helping Patients, Group Says

Focus on the Family is one of several organizations protesting the annual gathering of the American Psychological Association (APA) this Friday, Aug. 11, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Focus will join with other groups to call attention to how the APA has become an increasingly political organization. A protest is scheduled at 9 a.m. outside the convention center, to be followed by a 10 a.m. news conference.

"The APA's views on issues such as the immutability of homosexuality have caused real harm to real people and patients," said Mike Haley, Focus on the Family's director of gender issues, whose department will be represented at the protest.
