GAO Releases 3 New Reports on Federal Response to Hurricane Katrina; Report Includes Recommendations for Disaster Preparedness, Response

WASHINGTON, Sept. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In connection with the Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 anniversaries, U.S. Comptroller General David Walker today released the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) summary report of its Hurricane Katrina work to date, including new recommendations to improve government disaster preparedness and response. In two smaller reports, GAO also released new findings on the status of levee repairs in New Orleans and the tracking of federal Katrina relief funding.
