N.C. Lender and Guaranty Agency Have Among Lowest Student Loan Cohort Default Rates in U.S. Four Years in a Row

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Borrowers with College Foundation, Inc. (CFI) and the N.C. State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) have among the lowest default rates in the U.S., according to a recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Education.
The CFI federal fiscal year 2005 "cohort default rate" of 1.5 percent reported by the U.S. Department of Education is one of the lowest in the nation, and is considerably lower than the national rate. The national student loan cohort default rate reported was 4.6 percent, a decrease from 5.1 percent in 2004.
