Former U.S. Deputy Marshal Sentenced to 24 Months on Civil Rights- Related Charges

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Former Deputy U.S. Marshal Stephen Cook was sentenced today in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on civil rights charges arising out of his August 2005 assault on a detainee at the District of Columbia Superior Court, announced Acting Assistant Attorney General Grace Chung Becker of the Justice Departments Civil Rights Division. Cook was sentenced to 24 months imprisonment and ordered to pay restitution. Upon his release from prison, he will be monitored on federal supervised release for two years.
