FDNY Foundation and the NYC Fire Department Launch Fire Safety Awareness Campaign on Smoke Alarms

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The FDNY Foundation in coordination with the New York City Fire Department announced today a new public awareness campaign called SOUND THE ALARM, aimed at educating the public on the importance of working smoke alarms. The program is made possible by a generous grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
FDNY Foundation Chairman Stephen J. Ruzow, Executive Director Jean O'Shea joined Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta and Congressman Jose E. Serrano to kick-off the campaign. It was held in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, where a horrific fire claimed 10 lives last year.
