Bharat Patel has quit as head of portfolio trading at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW) and is believed to be joining JP Morgan. DrKW and JP Morgan refused to comment. However, sources at DrKW confirmed that Patel left in the middle of last week.
JP Morgan has been trying for some time to build up its portfolio trading business. At present, it is a second division player, ranking only 15th in the 2002 Financial News global portfolio trading poll. It hired Rory Tobin from Goldman Sachs, whose responsibilities include portfolio trading.
