Kelly Martin, who was forced out at Merrill Lynch after Stan O'Neal took over at the bank has resurfaced at Elan, the Irish pharmaceuticals company under investigation by US regulators.O'Neal became chief executive at Merrill in December and restructured the bank's private client business by combining its international and US private client businesses into one unit. He chose James Gorman, head of the US side of the business, rather than Martin, head of the bank's international private client business, to run the new unit.

Martin, a 21-year Merrill Lynch veteran, quit the firm after his position was made redundant. He preceded Dow Kim as head of Merrill's debt business and between 1995 and 1998 Martin was responsible for systems...
