Atlas Capital gains Fitch's first alternative investment rating.

Fitch Ratings, the international rating agency, has given its first alternative investment manager rating to Atlas Capital, the $3.2bn ([euro]2.7bn) London-based house.The firm has given a AAM3 rating to Atlas and Sigma Asset Management, its associated offshore investment manager. The ratings are on a scale of AAM1 (highest) to AAM5.

The Fitch ratings were launched this month in recognition of the rapid growth of alternative activities in asset management. Fitch has developed a methodology to provide institutional investors with clear measures of alternative asset manager capabilities.
