More B2C profits to come from web transactions, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 09-15-2000 INTERNET executives surveyed by International Data Corp (IDC), an international research house say that over half of business-to-consumer (B2C) revenues this year will come from web transactions. At the same time, the executives said firms that sell to both businesses and consumers (B2BC) will do even more business on the web. The executives came to this conclusion as it is cheaper to serve content on the net, and it is becoming more profitable.
"However, profitability can be elusive," the research house said in a statement. According to the IDC survey, more than 40 per cent of the B2C revenues last year came from Internet sales and this is expected to increase to more than 50 per cent this year. ...
