US slowdown will not affect Cisco's local operations: MD, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 04-03-2001 CISCO Systems Inc, the world's leading supplier of Internet networking equipment, is confident that its Malaysian operation will not be affected by the US economic slowdown. Cisco Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd managing director Shaifubahrim Saleh said Ciscos operation in the country will continue to grow although its operations in some countries may be affected by the US economy.

He said the impact of the sharper than expected US economic slowdown was mostly felt in countries which were tightly connected to the US economy such as Australia, South Korea and Taiwan. Others like China and Malaysia were not really affected, he told a news conference in Penang yesterday after the opening of Cisco's new manufacturing centre...
