No proposals from MNCs to relocate operations, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 07-06-2001 MUTLTINATIONAL companies (MNCs) operating in Malaysia have not indicated any intention to shift their operations ahead of the implementation of the Asian Free Trade Area (Afta). International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said she has not received any reports or proposals from MNCs on relocating their production facilities.

"I am not aware of any report by any MNC to shift operations. So far, we have received none," she told reporters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday after receiving a quality management system MS ISO 9001:2000 certificate on behalf of her ministry from Sirim Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Aton.
