KLCI, Tech Index outperform Dow, Nasdaq, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 02-20-2002 THE Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) Composite Index (KLCI) and Technology Index have outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and the Nasdaq Composite Index since July last year as investors redirect their investment to cheaper markets and also due to the resilience of the local economy, say analysts.

"The Wall Street has been overbought in that period, resulting in high price-earnings (PE) ratio. That is not the case in Malaysia, which has a lower PE ratio," a research manager of an asset management company said.
