`Knee-jerk' reaction blamed for fall in Sime shares, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 03-27-2002 CONGLOMERATE Sime Darby Bhd's steep losses on Monday were overdone and due to a "knee-jerk" reaction rather than associated to the group's fundamentals, said analysts and dealers. Sime Darby shares fell 32 sen or 6.2 per cent to close at RM4.88 on Monday on concerns that the company may lose its local BMW retail distributorship after BMW AG said it wants 100 per cent of the distributorship as part of plans to set up its regional headquarters in Malaysia.
