Business Times (Malaysia) 08-30-2002 AUTOMOTIVE Corp (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (ACM) first started as a franchise for German and Japanese carmakers Opel and Isuzu respectively in 1980. Its first foothold in the local commercial vehicles market was with the launch of the Isuzu Trooper four years later.
ACM has since progressed and established supremacy in the truck and four-wheel-drive (4WD) sectors. Now, it is the sole distributor of Isuzu and Hicom Perkasa in Malaysia. The company may have seen its sales fall by half since the Asian economic crisis of 1997, but it is not letting go of its leading position in the local commercial vehicles market.
