`Amend Act to include online contractual issues', BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 09-18-2002 THE Contracts Act 1950 needs to be amended to accommodate online contracts and facilitate an international e-commerce environment, a conference was told. Md Abdul Jalil of Multimedia University said currently, the Act provides postal rule to govern the formation of a contact made by sending a letter through the post.
"The postal rule might not be suitable on the cyberspace contract because in cyberspace, contract data message is used to form a contract and it is instantaneous in nature," he said at the Internet Economy And Business International Conference in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
