Land Rover may source Freelanders from Thailand, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 12-18-2002 UK-BASED Land Rover has not ruled out the possibility of sourcing its Freelander 4X4 model from Thailand for the Malaysian market when Asian Free Trade Area (Afta) takes effect in 2005. Land Rover Malaysia managing director Ali Shuib said the company currently has no immediate plan to source the model from the assembly plant in Thailand.

"But when Afta takes effect (in 2005), it will be part of our plan," he told newsmen after the launching of new Range Rover models in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Currently, Land Rover Malaysia imports Land Rover's Freelander model directly from the UK.
