Tourism sector has potential to draw FDIs, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 02-04-2003 THE tourism industry's role as a foreign exchange earner from tourists can be widened to include global foreign direct investment (FDI). MIDF Sisma Securities Sdn Bhd economist Azrul Azwar said a shift in Malaysia's focus to redirect global capital flows into the services sector may not be a bad idea.

"As a proxy to the services sector, the tourism industry has great potential as an FDI magnet," Azrul said.
