Visa's sales volume up 46pc to RM4b, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 03-13-2003 VISA card sales volume in Malaysia grew 46 per cent to US$4 billion (US$1= RM3.80) while retail sales volume rose 28 per cent to US$3.11 billion in 2002. Visa in a statement said that Malaysian cardholders also made more transactions with their Visa card in 2002 than in 2001, or an increase of 32 per cent.

For the year-ended December 31 2002, retail sales volume (RSV) in Asia Pacific rose 25 per cent to US$235 billion, led by South Korea where it was up 57 per cent to US$74 billion. Japan was next at US$68 billion, representing an increase of 13 per cent. In South-East Asia, Thailand led in terms of RSV growth chalking a 40 per cent jump, followed by India (36 per cent) and Indonesia (28 per cent). ...
