Swedish Marque in the dark on tariffs under Afta, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 09-10-2003 VOLVO'S car dealer in Malaysia, Swedish Marque Sdn Bhd, remains in the dark on the tariff structure for imported cars under the Asean Free Trade Area (Afta) regime which is scheduled to go full scale come year 2005. General manager Pang Cheong Yan said the industry and customers are hopeful that the import duties for such cars will be lowered, hence reducing car prices in Malaysia.

"We hope the import duties will be lowered as this would spur the whole industry," he told reporters after the launch of the company's RM10 million customer facilities in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
