IBM's partnership program makes further inroads into SMI market, BUSINESS TIMES

Business Times (Malaysia) 02-16-2004 AFTER keeping a lower profile the past few years, Sanyo Sales and Services Sdn Bhd wants to recapture the lost market share by launching more new products in Malaysia. Managing director Takeyuki Kamei said Sanyo expects a 30 per cent increase in sales this year by focusing on selling more television sets, digital products and liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors.
"We have lost a lot of market share in the past six years or so, mainly due to the weaker economy and the currency problem here," he told Business Times in a recent interview. He said the company left a negative impression on Malaysians when its Japan-based headquarters relocated production concerns in Asia to China, and sold off its manufacturing plant...
