Americans Need More AD&D:CIGNA
CIGNA believes corporate Americans need more accidental death and dismemberment insurance and, to prove the point, it just released a study on the major causes of accidental deaths and injuries in the last five years.
Enclosed with the study results are the insurer's assertions that because accident insurance rates and eligibility are not based on an individual's health, accident insurance is significantly more accessible and much less expensive than life insurance.
The company uses, as an example, a person 50 years of age who might pay about $1,620 a year for $200,000 in term life insurance. For the same coverage, CIGNA's accident insurance premium would be $96, a difference of $1,524.
