Insurance companies can ensure their success with good public relations efforts. When the US Post Office in Scranton, PA mishandled a batch of checks form Prudential, Prudential got the Post Office to apologize for the gaffe and sent a letter of explanation to affected policyholders. The Miami, FL-based insurer John Alden threw a party for the American Council of Life Insurance and the Health Insurance Assn of America to thank the two organizations for their assistance during Alden's recovery from Hurricane Andrew. Metropolitan Life is supporting a museum celebrating immigrants in New York City as part of its commitment to history.
