Fortis Benefits Insurance Co has introduced a new short-term disability (STD) insurance product for the group market, Fortis Link, that the company is marketing as a vehicle to reduce employers' group disability insurance costs. Fortis Link has some features of traditional long-term disability (LTD) policies, such as vocational and rehabilitation benefits, and is being introduced as a 'seamless' product that bridges the gap between LTD and STD claims.

Fortis Benefits Ins. Co. believes its new short-term disability policy will help reduce overall group disability costs.
