The sales practices of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co (Met) reportedly are under investigation by the US Attorney in Tampa, FL, although Met reports that it has not been subpoenaed. Met already has settled a lawsuit brought by the Florida attorney General for $2.5 million, and state hearings continue to delve into allegedly deceptive sales practices used by Met agencies. In a related development, the Pennsylvania Dept of Insurance has taken action to revoke the licenses of three former Met insurance agents that allegedly used fraudulent sales practices.
The United States Attorney in Tampa, Fla. is said to be looking into the sales practices of Metropolitan Life Ins. Co., according to published reports.
