Insurers are in no hurry to install Windows 95.

A number of large insurance companies are heeding advice from technological consultants to delay installing Windows 95 operating software from Microsoft Corp until any defects are discovered and corrected. Metropolitan Life and Nationwide Mutual reported that they are pilot testing Windows 95 but do not plan to expand installation of the software until 1996. One industry group recommended delaying installation of Windows 95 until Microsoft distributes a 'bug-fix' release in 1996.

Unfazed by the huge media hype preceding the Aug. 24 launching of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows 95, insurance companies contacted by National Underwriter indicated they were in no hurry to install the new operating system.

Insurer reactions seem to fall in line with much of corporate America...
