A 1995 survey of human resources professionals conducted by The Hay Group management consulting firm identified quality improvement as a major goal cited by human resources managers in the insurance industry. Nearly half of insurance participants in the survey listed improvement in quality as one of their top three priorities. A Hay Group executive noted that an emphasis on quality is a means by which companies can remain competitive.

Compared to other industries, human resource professionals in the insurance field were slightly more likely to say "improving quality" was among their top three goals for 1995, a recent survey suggests.
