General Electric Capital Corp is acquiring Union Fidelity Life Insurance Co from Aon Corp for $400 million in a move that will expand and broaden GE's insurance business. Union Fidelity experienced strong sales growth in its life and accident/health insurance operations in 1993. The acquisition of Union Fidelity, a direct marketer of accident, credit, disability, health and life insurance products, broadens GE's offerings of specialty insurance products. Aon Corp also is shopping its Life Insurance Co of Virginia subsidiary.
