A broad coalition that includes the Health Insurance Association of America sent a letter to House Speaker Newt Gingrich opposing the Senate's Medigap measures in its budget reconciliation bill. The House-Senate reconciliation process on the budget began a few days after the July 8 letter was sent. The group protests that the Medigap provision will usher in higher premiums for seniors with Medigap policies to subsidize non-seniors who are eligible for Medicare.
