International Business Machines Corp. has launched a major new initiative to provide information services and consulting to the insurance industry. IBM Global Insurance Solutions' Insurance Research Center Manager Daniel Yellin says that IBM's initiative seeks to help insurance companies turn data into business intelligence. IBM forecasts the business intelligence market at $70 billion by the advent of the millenium.

As part of a company-wide move to focus on the business intelligence market, IBM has announced major initiatives designed to provide both traditional and industry-specific data products and services to insurance companies.
