Conseco and General Electric Capital Corporation produce almost half of all long-term care insurance premium revenue, according to a new study from McKinsey & co.
The New York management consulting firm found that Conseco led the $2.2 billion market in 1996, the latest year for which detailed figures were available, with $567 million in LTC premium revenue, or 26 percent of the total.
GE Capital ranked second with $485 million in LTC premium revenue and a 22 percent share.
The five carriers with LTC market shares between 5 percent and 10 percent were John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, Boston; CAN Financial Corporation, Chicago; AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands; Travelers Group, Hartford; and Penn Treaty American Corporation, Allentown,...
