APC Announces UPS Designed For Win 98.

National Underwriter Life & Health-Financial Services Edition, January, 1999

American Power Conversion has recently introduced a new model in its line of uninterrupted power supplies, the Back-UPS Pro 500, designed specifically for Windows 98.

The Pro 500 communicates with the computer operating system through a Universal Serial Bus port, making installation easier, said West Kingston, Rhode Island-based APC.

The power supply will automatically save files when it senses a power outage and can either immediately shut the machine down after a save or can switch to a backup battery system that allows the user to keep working.

Users can also connect peripherals, with four outlets connecting to backup batteries and three more outlets offering surge protection alone.
