Dow Jones is offering equity index product insurers licenses to use three Dow indexes in the carriers' equity indexed annuity products, according to NFC Consulting Group, a Chicago firm that has been retained to contact potential licensees. The indexes are the Dow Jones Industrial, Dow Jones Transportation, and Dow Jones Utility Averages. Licenses for Dow Jones Global Indexes may also be available, NFC says.
To date, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index has been the most widely used index in EIP policies, but a few insurers now also offer a few other index options.
