CALGARY, ALBERTA, Jun 22, 2007 (CCNMatthews via COMTEX) -- WestJet (TSX:WJA) today commented on the federal government's decision to grant designation for WestJet to provide scheduled service to Mexico.

"We welcome the government's decision and thank Minister Cannon for his vision," said Sean Durfy, WestJet President. "This represents a tremendous opportunity for WestJet to bring our fun and friendly service to Mexico on a scheduled basis. This news ensures that our strategic plan of continued international expansion is on course.
