Info-Prod Research (Middle East), September, 2002 by Info-Prod Strategic Business Information
Intel Corporation Chief Executive Officer Craig Barrett said last week the company plans to triple its manpower strength in India to 3,000 employees from the current level of 1,000 over the next couple of years. However, Barrett qualified his statement by saying that this investment will be subject to improvement in global business environment over the next six months.
He said that Intel would invest in hardware design facility at Bangalore for developing 32-bit processors. Barrett also said that Intel plans to focus on engineering design than on hardware production. He added that India was not favourable for hardware production due to weak infrastructure and logistical problems.
