TURKCELL CUSTOMER BASE ON THE RISE - STATISTICS

According to "Dunya", Turkish GSM operator Turkcell announced a 29% increase in its overall customer base to 15.7 million as of December 31, 2002, from 12.2 million the same period last year. According to statement by Turkcell, in the last quarter of 2002, the operator acquired approximately 843,000 net new subscribers, raising the total number of its mobile subscribers to 15.7 million as of December 31, 2002, up from 14.9 million subscribers at September 30, 2002.
The company's overall subscriber base consisted of 4.7 million post-paid and 11.0 million prepaid subscribers as of year-end 2002. New gross subscribers acquired in 2002 consisted of 90% prepaid and 10% post-paid subscribers.(Source: Info-Prod (Middle East) Ltd.)
