PRESIDENT GIVES RARE INTERVIEW TO U.S. BROADCASTER.

Saddam Hussein said in a CBS News interview released on the network's website on24 February that "Iraq does not have missiles that go beyond theproscribed range." Hussein was referring to the recent UN ruling thatIraq's Al-Sumud 2 missile exceeds the 150- kilometer limit set bythe UN. The interview was aired on CBS Television on 25 and 26February.
Hussein also told interviewer Dan Rather that he wants atelevised debate with U.S. President George W. Bush over the issue ofwar, saying, "I am ready...to conduct a direct dialogue with yourpresident." The Iraqi president added, "As leaders...why don't weuse this opportunity?"
