U.S. DEPLOYS IRAQI TV TO BEAM MESSAGE.

The administration of U.S.President George W. Bush took over Iraqi state television Channel 3on 10 April, replacing tributes to deposed President Hussein withgreetings from Bush, the Pentagon, and British Prime Minister TonyBlair in an effort to persuade Iraqis that they are being liberated,not occupied, "The Washington Post" reported on 11 April.

Within afew days, U.S. officials said they hope to open a second televisionstation in Iraq running subtitled ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, and Fox NewsChannel nightly news shows.
