SAUDIS SPENT $100,000 ON E-COMMERCE IN FIRST QUARTER 2005

According to Al-Jazirah newspaper (June 9, 2005), Visa International reveals that the Saudi consumers' spending on electronic commerce grew noticeably in the first quarter of the current year. Visa added that the Saudis had spent $100,000 on e- commerce in the same quarter. SAMB was the first body in the Kingdom to handle electronic commerce transactions.

By introducing the SambaConnect service, Samba has remarkably contributed to the e- commerce spread in the Kingdom, Visa reported. SambaConnect is a new state-of-the-art online payment system that provides a secure way for merchants to accept payments from online buyers on their website or portal.
