GENERAL DYNAMICS AWARDED CONTRACT FOR ACORN" SYSTEMS

General Dynamics, OTS Engineering Technology, Orlando Fla., was awarded on July 15, 2005, a firm fixed-price letter contract with a cost ceiling of $6,952,360, for approximately 1,550 (ea) "Acorn" Systems and accessories. The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division has a requirement to procure Acorn Systems, which will provide critical force protection measures to patrols within Afghanistan.

The contract was awarded by authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(2), Unusual and Compelling Urgency. Work will be performed in Orlando, Fla., and is expected to be completed by January 2006.
