LENOVO SEEKING ENTRY INTO EAST AFRICA VIA KENYA

Info-Prod Research (Middle East), April, 2006

According to fdi.gov.cn: According to the Kenyan news paper Kenya Press Club, Lenovo Group is looking to penetrate the laptop market in East Africa via Kenya. The well-measured report did not mention that Lenovo was a Chinese company. It only said the company bought IBM's PC unit and was starting to launch products in East Africa.

Deshan Govendar, Brand Manager of Lenovo for South and Central Africa said, Lenovo's ThinkVantage technology was already in wide application in South Africa. Now Lenovo was ready to introduce the technology into East African countries to challenge the dominant positions of DELL and HP in the regional portable PC market. Govendar said Africa was viewed as an emerging market for world-class PCs and software products.
