IRAN PROTESTS AS OF JUNE 16

Iranian authorities have declared on Tuesday that the Islamic republic will not undergo new elections in the face of calls by opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's June 12th presidential victory was wrought by pervasive fraud. Meanwhile, in what has developed into the largest protest in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, hundreds of thousands of Mousavi supporters have taken to the streets of Tehran and elsewhere to echo Mousavi's call for reelection, leaving seven dead and dozens injured.
