AsiaInfo Services 04-12-1996 Sony Gets Surprise Royalties from Shanghai China Record Company SHANGHAI, Apr. 12, AsiaInfo Services, Inc -- Sony Music, one of the world's four leading recording companies, was caught by surprise when it received US$ 100,000 in royalties from the Shanghai China Record Company.

The royalties were for Michael Jackson's album "Bad". The Shanghai company bought the rights to the album from the US based CBS Music in 1987 , Sony purchased CBS Music in 19, but was unaware of the "Bad" deal until it received the royalties.
