AsiaInfo Services 01-03-1997 Orders for European, US Planes Hold Steady CHINA, January 3, AsiaInfo Services, Inc -- China ordered 62 new airplanes from the United States and European manufacturers in the past year, including the newest models such as the Boeing 777. Altogether 34 new airplanes, 31 of which were foreign-made, joined the fleets of China's airlines.
The remaining 31 foreign planes ordered in the past year will be delivered between 1997-2000. The 34 planes include three from the Harbin Aircraft Mfg Co, 21 from Boeing of the US, seven from Europe's Airbus Industrie, and three from McDonnell Douglas Corp, which last month announced plans to be acquired by Boeing.
