AsiaInfo Services 12-01-1999 Software Virus Detection Center Set up CHINA, December 1, AsiaPort -- The world's leading anti-virus software developer Symantec will set up a virus monitoring center in China next year to promptly trace locally evolved computer viruses, according to Daniel Cheng, country manager with Beijing Symantec Corp.

The center will be the country's first company-sponsored anti-virus body. The activity formerly fell into the province of the Ministry of Public Security. Symantec recently increased its China's presence from a representative office to a wholly funded company in Beijing. Cheng said the move demonstrates the company's commitment to China.
