AsiaInfo Services 11-19-2001 Infineon and Toshiba Failed to Reach Cooperation Deal TAIWAN, Nov 19, 2001 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- Infineon and Toshiba, 2 giants in the DRAM industry, have failed to reach the deal in terms of establishing a joint venture. The Infineon then shifted its attention to the DRAM manufacturing industry in Taiwan. It is known that the cause of the failure lies in Toshiba's refusal to merger its flash memory production line into the joint venture. It was initially planned that the Infineon and Toshiba would announce their cooperation program by the end of this October.

However, the failure of the cooperation made the Infineon to seek cooperations with manufacturers in Taiwan. So far, 6 major DRAM manufacturers in Taiwan have lost...
