AsiaInfo Services 11-20-2001 China to Reduce Tariff Rate CHINA, Nov 20, 2001 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- According to Mou Xinsheng, the Director with the General Administration of Customs, China is to gradually reduce tariff rate after its WTO entry. Mou says the average tariff rate has been reduced to the present 15.3 per cent from 43.2 per cent in 1992. By the year of 2005, China's tariff rate will be reduced to be under the average level of developing nations.

At the same time, the average tariff rate of industry products is to drop about 10 per cent. Mou indicates China is to fully implement the WTO Customs Price Evaluation Agreement.
