AsiaInfo Services 06-20-2002 China Unicom Purchased 72 Paging Companies CHINA, Jun 20, 2002 (AsiaPort via COMTEX) -- It was universally recognized fact that the paging industry was shrinking. Currently, many paging companies were in red ink, and compressed their business scales one after another.
However, the largest paging company in China, China Unicom lately purchased many paging companies nationwide. In Nov. Last year, the 12000 paging subscribers of Beijing Huashang Paging Center was annexed by Beijing Unicom Paging Company. On 16, April, Beijing Kaiqi Paging Center and Business Paging Center signed agreements with China Unicom to transfer their 26000 subscribers to China Unicom.
