TSMC GAINS APPROVAL ON INVESTMENT IN MAINLAND CHINA

AsiaInfo Services 01-29-2003 TSMC Gains Approval on Investment in Mainland China TAIPEI, Jan 29, 2003 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- TSMC-Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. finally gains the approval from Taiwan Authority on investment in mainland China. To gain the first stage approval, TSMC also needs to submit to expert committee of the industry more information about investment in Shanghai for approval.
The second examination is crucial. TSMC planed to build in Shanghai a 8" wafer plant with total registration capital for US$ 371 million. The total investment was US$ 898 million.
